Recipe | Homemade mulled wine
What would the Advent season be without mulled wine? With a good Eppan red wine and selected spices, the Christmas classic becomes a special treat at home.
INGREDIENTS for 4 cups:
1 bottle (7/10) of Eppan red wine
2 to 3 tablespoons of sugar or honey for sweetening
1 stick of cinnamon
5 cloves
1 untreated orange
Additionally, according to taste, a piece of vanilla pod and cardamom pods
PREPARATION:
Slice the untreated orange, including the peel. Put the red wine in a large saucepan with the sugar (or honey), the orange slices, the cinnamon and all the other spices. Heat strongly, but avoid that the wine starts to boil. Let steep for a few minutes and then serve hot.
TIPS:
For a good mulled wine you need a high quality wine. A South Tyrolean Vernatsch or also a Merlot are well suited. You can find the right wine for your mulled wine enjoyment at home in the numerous Eppan wineries and vineyards.
