Missian | Eppan

People recognised the beautiful location of the hamlet of Missian | Eppan with a view of the Etschtal valley and the Schlern mountain early on; after all, the settlement "Missianum" was first mentioned in the 13th century. Guarded by the Schloss Hotel Korb, Eppan's landmark Hocheppan Castle, the chalk tower and the Boymont castle ruins, the small village lies somewhat elevated between Unterrain and St. Pauls. Even the start in the Missian alleys and past the mostly historic wine farms is an experience, and during the hike there are always vantage points with magnificent views of the entire Überetsch, Etsch and Eisack valleys, the Bozen basin and the majestic Schlern. A hike to the summit of the Mendelkamm also begins in Missian | Eppan.

Another Missian landmark stands on a hill planted with vines and visible from afar: the church of St. Zeno and Apollonia. Next to it, the Widum and the former sacristan's house form the idyllic village square, which invites you to linger in surroundings that make you forget everyday life.
